2018 West Michigan Corporate Challenge Unveiled
MEIJER STATE GAMES OF MICHIGAN UNVEILS 2018 WEST MICHIGAN CORPORATE CHALLENGE
West Michigan corporations will earn points through competition
towards the Grand Champions Trophy
Grand Rapids, Mich., January 9, 2018 – Meijer State Games of Michigan today announced the creation of the West Michigan Corporate Challenge that will take place September 5-8, 2018 at various venues throughout the Greater Grand Rapids area. The West Michigan Corporate Challenge encourages West Michigan businesses to get active through friendly competition and employee camaraderie.
“The West Michigan Corporate Challenge is a multi-sport event, similar to the Meijer State Games of Michigan but for the corporate community, that will bring coworkers together for a series of fun events earning points toward the Grand Champions Trophy,” said Eric Engelbarts, Meijer State Games of Michigan Executive Director.
Companies will compete within one of four divisions based on their total number of West Michigan employees (full-time and part-time; employees must be 18+ years old). Spouses of employees are welcome to participate. The Corporate Challenge is designed so that companies can be competitive with as few as 10 participants or bring as many as 100 participants to share in the competition.
Points will be awarded based on performance in each sporting competition along with participation in charity and physical activities. The company with the highest point total in each division will be awarded the Grand Champion Trophy for the year. Trophies will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in each division.
Sporting competitions include: bubble soccer, disc golf toss, extreme archery, football accuracy toss, golf scramble, kickball, obstacle course relay, parallel parking, soccer shootout, and tug of war.
Participation activities include a cycling tour and the kickoff event. The charity competitions include a blood drive, clothing drive and food drive. Other events are a family fun zone, tailgating contest and uniform contest.
Competition venues are to include the Art Van Sports Complex, StoneWater Country Club and Rosa Parks Circle. A complete schedule of events and locations can be found at www.WestMichiganCorporateChallenge.com
Employees who would prefer to not compete can still participate through volunteer opportunities. Companies that provide volunteers will receive points toward their teams’ overall scores. While it is intended that volunteer recruitment be focused on employees, family members are welcome to participate to support a company’s volunteer efforts.
For companies interested in receiving additional recognition during the Corporate Challenge, there are four sponsorship levels available (includes a presenting level). Most sponsorship levels include reduced or free team registration as well as additional benefits.
